ABSTRACT

A comprehensive study was conducted on ten (10) goat farms in the Chattagram Upazila, Bangladesh, to collect data on the morphometric attributes of 50 Jamunapari goats. A structured questionnaire was used, and variances were analyzed using the Statistical Package for the Social Sciences (SPSS) version 25.0 technique. The overall average body weights for different age groups—up to 6 months, 6 months to 1 year, 1 to 1.5 years, 1.5 to 2 years, and above 2 years—were reported as 11.83±0.557, 17.33±0.629, 25.50±2.56, 27.36±1.35, and 33.14±1.74 kg, respectively. Morphometric attributes of the Jamunapari goat’s head, including Horn Length, Head Length, Head Width, Ear Length, Ear Breadth, and Neck Circumference, were significantly impacted by age class (p0.05) was found between the sexes within the same age groups. Correlation coefficients were calculated, indicating positive correlations (r) between body weight and other body measurements. The study revealed strong correlations between body weight and heart circumference (R2=0.434), wither height (R2=0.319), and body length (R2=0.798). Therefore, it can be concluded that the goat’s body weight increased in parallel with a significant rise in all its body dimensions. This morphometric data can assist in selecting pure animals for conservation and enhancing the production of the flock.
