ABSTRACT

There are many ways to detect rabies, which is a fatal disease. The major issues in diagnosing rabies include a lack of lab infrastructure and/or difficulties in sending samples from far-off locations to laboratories. Simple tests such as lateral flow assay (LFA) or immunochromatographic assays may improve control and surveillance efforts in these situations. In this study, cases reported for rabies confirmation were tested for lateral flow assay, cytology, and histopathology. By using cytological and histological investigation, negribodies were found in the brain, which aided with the diagnosis. LFA could be easy approach for rabies surveillance and also for in-site diagnosis.
